Valeria Russ, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Psychology
Professor Valeria Russ, Ph.D., joined the Olivet College faculty in August 2020. She teaches courses in psychology related to social life, culture, mental and physical health, and interaction. Her research mainly focuses on tutoring and tutoring practices among at-risk college students, and she has published journal articles on the effectiveness of tutoring among at-risk students.
Professor Russ previously served as the program coordinator of the Psychology Department at Fayetteville Technical Community College for five years, where she served on several committees. She has extensive experience working with students of diverse backgrounds, particularly military students.
Professor Russ earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Fayetteville State University, a master’s degree in counseling from Webster University and a doctorate in psychology from Walden University.
