Carol Flanigan has been named director of annual giving at Olivet College, according to an announcement by B.J. Hull, vice president for advancement. She is responsible for the strategic management and coordination of all giving efforts for the college’s annual giving program.

“We are delighted to have Carol join Olivet College during this exciting time,” Hull said. “Her knowledge and expertise in higher education fundraising initiatives will be an asset to the college as we continue to grow and develop relationships that support Olivet’s strategic vision for 2020 and Beyond.”

Flanigan previously served three years as executive assistant to Boston University’s (BU) assistant vice president for development. In this role, she supported multiple teams within development – including corporate relations, foundation relations, planned giving and global leadership development – during the university’s $1 billion campaign. Flanigan was also charged with developing the organizational structure within the university’s donor database for corporate relations’ prospects and plans. In addition, she coordinated logistics for the Network of Academic Corporate Relations Officers (NACRO) national conference, attended by more than 250 participants on BU’s campus in 2013.

Prior to her role as executive assistant, Flanigan served five years as accounts coordinator for BU’s Student Activities Business Office. During her tenure she managed the financial accounts of more than 500 undergraduate and graduate student groups, with an annual budget exceeding $1 million.

A resident of Charlotte, Flanigan earned a graduate certificate in fundraising management from BU in 2011. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Kalamazoo College in 2004 and spent one year of study at the University of Bonn (Germany) with an emphasis on German language, culture and history.
