Bill was a full time art professor at Olivet College from 1959 to 1979 where he taught painting, drawing, metal craft and art history. Previous to teaching at Olivet College, for nine years Whitney conducted his own art gallery, Whitney Galleries, with his wife, Charlotte, in Birmingham, Michigan.
